ABOUT

My name is Ella, and I am currently 16 years old. I'm French, German, as well as American, being born in San Francisco. My family and I have been moving around the world ever since I was born, due to my father’s job. After the US, we moved to Tokyo, Paris, Berlin and Bangkok. Whilst living in Thailand, I applied to UWC through the German committee and was offered a scholarship for the Mahindra UWC in India.

Hobbies of mine include swimming, horse riding, and any other outdoor activities. I’m an avid graphic designer and somehow an amateur photographer. Music is also a big part of my life, and I am very passionate about it. I have been playing the cello for seven years, the piano for five and have been doing classical singing for ten years.

Lastly, as a devoted volunteer, I enjoy spending time in the Bangkok slum helping out in several establishments. I have never taken my opportunities for granted, and volunteering is my way of giving back to my community. It is incredibly rewarding to see what impact one can have on someone else's life.

My aspiration in life is never to stop discovering the world, exchanging with people from different cultures and backgrounds whilst always keeping an open mind in order to grow as a global citizen, which is what UWC stands for. Integrity, intercultural understanding, and valuing diversity.

Words cannot begin to describe how grateful I am to have received this opportunity.
