HAPPINESS AT MUWCI

23 October, 2016

I'm trying to recall where this random post and the idea originated from.

Last week, the Canadians had their own thanksgiving dinner, which was followed by one of them having a long chat with me about the things we were thankful for, and what makes us happy at MUWCI. I thought I'd try to write them down.

  1. The amazing views from Internet Hill

  2. The smiles you get from every single person on this campus

  3. The conversations you have with people in the middle of the night

  4. Cooking pasta with someone at 3am, wondering why you are both still up but ending up refusing to go sleep

  5. The cold coffee and wada-pav you can get in Paud

  6. Always having someone to talk to, no matter where or when

  7. My trivenis (CAS) - especially Kriya Shivajis, working with the girls from the local villages, and training together towards the common goal of going on an expedition in the himalayas. (Empowerement through action - http://www.kriyaempowerment.org/)

  8. Advisor Meetings - staying at Nehal’s house until midnight, evenings filled with good food, laughter, and an amazing advisor group.

  9. The amazing Indian food I have eaten ever since arriving in India

  10. The campus - being able to show up in anyone’s room at any time and feeling just a welcome as in your own room. Basically everywhere on campus feeling like your own little corner.

  11. Free blocks spent lying in the sun on the library lawn

  12. Getting lost in India and always ending up being alright

  13. The teachers, and their availability around the clock, whether it is for school related or personal issues

  14. The comforting hugs from everyone

  15. No first block, because let's be honest, extra sleep is always appreciated

  16. Everybody being so wonderfully weird and individual, and thus this lack of normality being normal

  17. Realizing you have an almost empty to-do list

  18. The sometimes insanely unorganized meetings or events by other students, reminding all of us that it's alright to not have it all figured out

  19. Roommates and housemates

  20. Going to shower and not finding a frog or any other animal randomly sitting there

  21. Sunday morning brunches (Pasta, fresh omelet, pancakes, and crepes - we all look forward to this the entire week)

  22. Spending Saturdays in Pune

  23. My Global Politics class, having peers from all over the world bring me closer to conflicts in their home countries, providing an insight I could never obtain otherwise

  24. Obtaining this feeling of returning home whenever I leave campus for a longer while

  25. The people, the amazing friends I have made over the past few months
