Chemical Equations
Unit overview
For students to learn the process and understand stoichiometry. They will understand how mole ratio relates to chemical equations. The students will be able to balance a chemical equation and then use the balanced equations to find amounts of certain chemical compounds.

Enduring Understandings: Chemical Formulas
A chemical equation is the symbolic representation of a chemical reaction using the element's symbol, coefficients and subscripts. The chemical equation indicates the ratios of elements in a compound or of compounds reacting with each other. E.g For every 1 molecule of H2O in a reaction, there is 2 atoms of ___ . This is also related to percent mass, which indicates how much percent of the molecule each atom makes up.
