Unit 1 - Tinkercad

Unit overview

The goal of this unit was to create a 3D model of something that is useful or meaningful to me or someone else. To complete this, I used a 3D design software called TinkerCad. TinkerCad is a product of AutoDesk, which is a software company that makes architecture, engineering, constructing and manufacturing software. First, I learned the basics of creating digital 3D models that could be printed on a 3D printer. Then I worked through several tutorials to learn the basics of the program and then decide on a final project to demonstrate my skills as a 3D designer.

What are Important things to keep in mind when designing 3D models for the real world?

Reflection on Standards
Strength

Technology Operation and Concepts: Demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

Explanation

I was able to quickly learn all required skills in tinkercad, and whenever I encountered a problem, I was able to solve it myself by researching.

Weakness

Defining Problems:Analyze real-world problems or needs by specifying criteria and constraints for successful solutions.

Plan for Improvement

The bracelet as well as all boxes I designed had a clear purpose but were not a successful solution to a real world problem. Next unit, I will do more research on a specific issue that I would like to solve, rather than just deciding on something that I would enjoy.
