Beatrice, 27
From South Kivu, Congo to Bangkok, Thailand - Friday 14 December 2012
A home in South Kivu,
A home that was erased
When rebels came to take over
When rebels came and raped.
For human rights I wrote
For human rights I shout
Until the soldiers came for me
Until they knocked me out
They tied me to the bed
They all appeared so vile
All six of them raped me
All six stole my smile
They threatened to kill me
They threatened with knives
I screamed out for aid
I screamed for my life
A place once called my home
A place now shattered down
When I left my land - Burundi
When I left for the unknown
I’m now refused my status
But I’m refusing to go home ,
While I’m frightened of the future
While I’m scared of what will come.
